Voter’s Rights? – What about voter’s responsibilities?

Okay seriously, with all of the complaining about our elected officials and their prospective replacements, we often forget that the voters are no great bargain either. What?!? Yes. I said it.

Voters lament the fact that money repeatedly buys elections all across our country, which often keeps the best candidates out of office and favors the best financed instead. The problem is that the biggest reason for this isn’t the money coming in, but actually how the money has to be spent in order to reach the voters. Instead of attending candidate forums, debates, and other events where the under-funded candidates can reach the voters on equal footing, voters are reached primarily through media buys, which cost the very most of all campaign expenditures.

This column will have a lot of twists and turns, but will end up as a good Middle American article. You're probably wondering why I chose to do it this way. I could have called this column "How Weak Men Cannot Handle Strong Women Who Strive For Success", but last night while I was preparing this article something else came to mind.
